Where: Palmerston North
When: 18th to the 20th of November 2016
Why: Because MV!
We would like to invite all owners of MV Agusta motorcycles to join us on the weekend of the 18th to the 20th of November 2016 in Palmerston North for the annual NZMV Meetup. Please click the button below to signup to the meeting – this gives us a confirmed list of people and their details 🙂
Details:
Dave and Melanie Hands (The_castle on MVAgusta.net) have graciously put up their hands (no pun intended there) to host this year’s event at their place (basecamp). They have an amazing spot with a collection of some pretty rare and modified MVs that you are unlikely to see anywhere else in this country (and some other cool vehicles of the 4 wheeled kind) – so thank you guys.
Also note that there are partners that are attending as well, so all are most welcome – this weekend is about more than just MV’s and we want to make partners most welcome (tho to be fair there will be a good long discussion about the correct bearings, oil and tyres that you should be using). Please note that this event is a family friendly gathering of people with a passion for the MV Agusta brand.
The itinerary is as follows:
Friday the 18th of November:
Ride in and meet up at Dave and Mel’s place (location to be provided directly to people who are coming). So a couple of quiet beers and meeting of old and new friends. Friday’s dinner is provided. Please inform us of any catering requirements when you fill in the form (button below).
There are groups riding in from Auckland and Tauranga if you would like to join us you are welcome – get in touch with me personally (021 348884) for details. We will also be handing round a helmet on the Friday for costs of dinner on the Saturday.
Saturday the 19th of November:
MV Owners take on Gentle Annie – up and out on the bikes, a group ride taking us over to the east coast where we will stop on the way for breakfast and much needed coffee. Then over to Napier and onto the The Gentle Annie, which takes us up thru the Kaweka forest to Taihape. We will be stopping in key spots for fuel (the bikes and us) and photos. If you haven’t ridden this road, you are in for a treat – this is one of the best, if not the best, road in the north island. Trust me. After a fuel up in Tiahape we head back to basecamp and a big group dinner and social time.
Sunday the 20th of November:
Ride out day. Enjoy a group breakfast before heading back to where you came from.
Accommodation:
Group accommodation is being organised at motel close to basecamp, the basic cost is $70-80 per person per night (a bit cheaper for couples taking a room), and there is bike secure bike storage available at the motel.
We will be taking a deposit from everyone that confirms (see below) and you will then sort the balance with the motel on the weekend. When you confirm, let us know if you would like a room on your own or happy to be in a room with others (this will make it cheaper pp). You are also most welcome to organise your own accommodation. PS: There is also secure parking for bikes and cars at basecamp from the 18th until the 20th.
T-Shirts:
We will be doing a limited run of good quality t-shirts to commemorate the weekend. Cost will be approx $35-45 per shirt (depending on confirmed numbers) with both men’s and woman’s and an option of long sleeve (+$5). You will need to confirm your attendance to get one, or more, of these (more about this below as well).
What’s Next?
We are giving everyone until the end of September to confirm and pay for your accommodation (deposit) and t-shirts (please). Details, including bank account, will be emailed to you a day or so after you confirm – You can confirm your spot for the meet up here:
PS: During past meet ups, I’ve made lifetime friendships that run far beyond the love of the MV Agusta brand – and look forward to making more! See you there. Viva la MV!
